Pumps for hydrochloric acid
Hydrochloric acid (also hydrochloric acid, hydrochloric acid) is a caustic monobasic acid.
Pumps for pumping hydrochloric acid are quite complex equipment in production. Such units have a sealed design, and special resistant materials are used in their design, which is due to the aggressive properties of the pumped liquid. It must be remembered that hydrochloric acid vapors are extremely dangerous to humans, the solution itself has a second hazard class and is capable of oxidizing most metals and alloys.
Hydrochloric acid pumps are manufactured from various polymers (VBR, Teflon, etc.), resins, as well as Hastelloy B-C alloys. Often there is equipment of a combined type, in which the metal body of the unit has an internal lining or is covered with Teflon. This reduces the risk of acid damaging the metal surface.
Fluoroplastic acid pumps of self-priming type are often used in industry to work with hydrochloric acid: pumping solution from tanks and various reservoirs. When working with the pumped medium at elevated temperatures, there is a high risk of deformation of the lining. To eliminate such problems, special acid pumps equipped with a housing made of metal alloys with a high nickel content should be used. They are able to withstand significant temperature changes, function at +175 °C or more.
